are some spots better than others ? Yes. What are those? You got pay the dues. I strongly suggest a GPS unit, depth finder, a water proof notebook, a pair of binoculars and drifting around looking for bent rods.
When you do the last, remember you are fishing for coordinates. So keep the rods in the holders and lines in the boat and just keep going otherwise you will be called some unholy names. This is where the binoculars become useful. That is how far I try to stay from another wader, yak or boat unless I am with a friend.
