Went up to the weekend place Saturday afternnoon for a little R. and R. But it was tough to relax due to the infuriating spool knots that just wouldn’t quit. At first inspection it seemed to be a simple overrun, were the payout was imbedded beneath the wraps that should have been on top. I carefully unspooled over half the line, and rewrapped with moderate tension.
After only a few minutes, same problem, then again and again. So I figure the line on this rig is old, and change it out with new line. The new line, like the old is heavier than what is recommended, but this hasn’t been a problem in the past. Well same problem with the new line. I unspool again and stretch the line, and respool it with more tension. After this, it would snap off deep inside the spool every few minutes. Finally gave up and borrowed a new rig to finish out the day…..Lawton
